I'm looking for some vintage items of Swarovskijewelry made by the Swarovski Company. When I useany search engine, I get tons of sites that haveSwarovski beads or handmade items using Swarovskibeads, but that's not the jewelry made bySwarovski themselves. The Swarovski Club might bea site, but I'm not a member and I'm not planningon joinning since I'm really not a collector. Thanks for any help. The problem with ebay is thateveryone is selling the jewelry they madethemselves with Swarovski beads. Also most of theother sites are selling the new Swarovski jewelry. Question: #6: Swarovski crystal figurine repair?
I have a collection of Swarovski crystal animal figurines. They are made up out of different sizesof crystal pieces. Over time and during cleaningand drying, a few of the pieces have becomedetached from the main body, i.e. an ear here or apaw there, you get the picture. This crystal isvery clear so I cannot simply take any kind ofsuperglue and re-attach the lose parts. Is there aproper way to fix this or is there someone outthere who does this professionally? Some of mypieces are rather valuable and I don't want tomess them up. The don't do me any good infragments though. Thanks for any suggestions.

Here is a couple of places that fix glassart http://www.bokrosh.com/ http://www.kellerchina.com/Forget "Super Glue".If you just can't stand theexpense for the professional job, then try the 5minute epoxy. Its clear, it comes in two partsthat you mix together and it works wonders. Ifirst used it on a marble chess piece that one ofthe kids broke. I can't even tell that it was everbroken and even stressed tested it to see if itwould break, but it held strong. I have since usedit on ceramics and various other materialssuccessfully, but I never have used it ontransparent objects. I suggest that you break aworthless glass piece and try using the epoxy onit first. If it looks acceptable to you, then useit on the more valuable pieces. Don't worry aboutthe epoxy boogers that ooze out of the creaks whenyou press the pieces together. You can clean theepoxy boogers off with a razor blade another day.Just concentrate on getting each piece settogether in exact alignment and then press for afew seconds. They will bond instantly and then youset the next piece and so on.The name of the epoxyis "DEVCON" High Strength 5 minute epoxy. It comesin two syringes and you mix the two partstogether. You must work fast or it will hardenbefore you use it. I recommend using a very smallamount at a time. you will be able to handle thepieces within 5 minutes after you bond them.Put inyour zip code on this site to find a DEVCONdistributor near you http://www.devcon.com/ - answered by: Romeo View All Answers (3)
Question: #7: What year did swarovski sart making Christmas ornaments?
Me and my mom wanted to know what year Swarovskistarted to make their crystal Christmas ornaments.I want to get her the very first one forChristmas, she would love it.
- asked by Kelsieee
I'm assuming you mean their star/snowflake annualornaments. 1991 was the first year. Swarovskistarted a collection series of Stars andSnowflakes. All odd years (1991, 93, 95, 97, 99,2001, 2003) are Stars. All even years (1992, 94,96, 98, 2000, 2002) are Snowflakes. Here is a linkto a site that carries them. I have to tell you,the old ones are very expensive. Maybe you canfind it cheaper than on this site, but at leastyou know what to look for! Question: #8: what do flea bites do to swarovski crystals?
I want to purchase some swarovski crystals, but they state that there are minor flea bites. Howand why does it get there and what will they do tothe swarovski crystals eventually?
- asked by gummibears
In doing my own research,,, which I'm surprisedyou didn't do, I find that flea bites areimperfections, and are minute indentations/voidsin a piece. Since Crystal is a natural substanceI suspect anyone should accept that FLAWS are anatural occurence as well. I suspect you shouldcontinue "shopping" although I applaud the sellerfor stating flaws up front. Perfection isrelative and subjective, though we should allstrive for it, and then at some point define itand accept and tolerate it in degrees.Steven Wolf - answered by: DIY Doc View All Answers (7)

Question: #10: Stiffening agent good for Swarovski crystals?
I'm making a pair of earings with size 11 beads, Japanese and Czech, 4mm fire-polished beads, andSwarovski crystals. The earnings are kind offlimsy and collapse in on themselves. I've heardthat soaking in floor polsh can help stiffen thedesign, but would polish damage the Swarovskicrystals? What could stiffen the strands? I'vetried both Nymo and Fireline, but neither work. Any advice? Thanks.
- asked by Autumn2005
Not knowing what type of pattern you're using, I'mgoing to make a few assumptions. Are you using anappropriate size of Nymo or Fireline? If so, itcould be a tension issue. If you're not holdingyour tension tightly enough it may prevent thepattern stabilizing. Conversely, if your tensionis too tight, your work will curl on itself...thetension follows the thread despite the beads.Iftension is not the issue, are you usingconditioned thread? The use of either beeswax orBead Heaven on your thread before you work couldsolve your problem as it would give a little morestability to your thread.Otherwise, yes, floorpolish, such as Future, will work. Dip the piece, wipe off as much of the excess as possible andshape to dry. - answered by: CelticDragon View All Answers (3)
