Question : Can major search engines look into a database? We're using ProStores and we want to know if keywords are seen.
Years ago we were told that search engines scan the text in STATIC web pages but could not see information in databases. Recently we were told that Google could scan data stored in ProStores database. Is this true AND can other search engines (Yahoo & AltaVista)

All Answers: Answer #1I am not familiar with Prostores database. i will assume that this is a flatfile database of sometype. If my assumption is correct, then YES, thesearch engines can see the contents of this"database". HOWEVER, with proper security, youcan eliminate this possibility. With MySQL orMSSQL, the answer is no....the database isprotected from unauthorized viewing with a username and password........again.......with propersecurity (keeping the database on a differentsystem behind the firewalll....you are safe fromunauthorized access. - answered by Jeffrey F
